Unravel Me reflections

The first of three Unravel Me dance classes is complete!

And again, I'm reminded that each time you listen to the call to lead, you must surrender your expectations and welcome whatever moment actually arises.

After the last three years of starting Mama Kosmos and putting my offerings out there, I notice how my skin has toughened, my heart has opened, and my eyes have softened to focus on what is present, not on what isn't.

I have such a deep trust that whatever happens is exactly what needs to happen.

It's so relieving not to feel the heavy weight of doubt crash down on me the following day like a wave breaking onto shore.

Instead, I feel its gentle breeze, refreshing waters, and the sparkling sun kissing my skin.

I am rewriting outdated narratives of enough-ness and healing myself through my work by continuing to show up alongside my fear.

And it has such a profound effect on others, too. I’ve seen it with my own eyes, and it humbles and inspires me.

It's the joy of being a sovereign, powerful, and a beautiful woman inside and out, choosing my life — centering devotion over discipline, and accountability over victimization.

Lately, I've been asking myself in seemingly hard or random moments,

"Are you having fun yet?"

I feel like it’s my Highest Self being like, “Sisterrr, HELLO?!?!”

I'm proud to say, I truly f*cking am.

It’s been hard as hell to get here, and the best part is that it's hardly started.

The women who vulnerably shared their truths this weekend helped me continue to recognize how necessary it is to be witnessed in motherhood and sisterhood.

How important these safe spaces are for us to come together in what feels like acts of defiance and rebellion to show up for ourselves.

We are sold commercialized versions of motherhood that romanticize the baby coos, leaky nipples, and all of the excitement of baby's "firsts" that truly don't prepare us for the reality of self-sacrifice and martyrdom it requires. We haven’t even broken the seal about the men in our relationships yet — WHEW!!!! (Saving for another time)

Why are we still selectively whispering about the darkness it also entails?

Why are we continuing to isolate and hide from the suffering?

Why are we not having the real conversations with our friends and family BEFORE it happens?

And if none of this resonates for you — whether you are preparing to be a mother, want to eventually, or not — birthing something, anything into the world is grueling, beautiful, and constantly confronting.

I shared a story about the noisy construction happening in my apartment building and how, typically, it's annoying and a nuisance.

But this week, I lay from my balcony staring as the huge saw cut through metal pipes and thought:

To construct something from nothing, you have to be willing to be loud, put in the hard work, and get dirty and messy. You have to be willing to take up space to build a strong foundation, to literally occupy tangible space in the world for hopefully, a sustainable amount of time.

Through this work of returning to your body, you must be willing to make noise, push into your edges, occupy space within and without your body, and genuinely have audacity.

Deep breathing, embodied stretching, sensual dancing, loud chanting, bad singing, ugly growls, or sitting in silence — also acts of rebellion in our Western society.

This is what building a foundation within yourself, a home to always return to as a sweet, soft, and sacred sanctuary, looks and sounds like.

While in the midst of it, ask yourself,

"Are you having fun yet?"

No one is forcing you to do anything.

Take back your muthafucking power, bitch!

Do you like who you see in the mirror when you look at who you're becoming in the process of whatever 'this' is?

'This' meaning, the thing you are feeling called to do, that beckons you right now, that pulls you forward, because this is what you were born to do or what is being asked of you in this moment of your life.

Being honest just with yourself, let alone with others, is hard.

But is the facade still worth trading temporary approval and peace over the fear of being perceived or rejected?

NOPE!

Chiron shifted from Aries to Taurus over the last week, and what that says is:

You know who you are now.

Now it's time to act accordingly.

Your worth was never a question.

Do the work to be in alignment with your divine feminine energy to receive the overflowing abundance of material wealth gushing from the mother's earthly springs!

It's time to pleasurably unravel the story of "martyred matriarchy" from your DNA, sis.

But always with grace, patience, and gratitude for your humanity.
